This was a good book, I honestly couldn't stop reading it.The South has won the revolutionary war, illegals have been kicked out of the USA, black people are considered lesser though they still can have jobs as police, late term abortion is illegal, and the majority of higher players (fortune 500 CEOs, politicians) so on are completely exempt from the law. The story takes place sometime in the 20th century. The main character is a young police officer, and former soldier. His..world is rocked when his wife tries to abort their child, and ends up getting arrested and dying along with the child to prison. He gets recruited by a group of vigilante police

It's a cop story layered with intrigue, peculiar justice, loss, longing, heartless characters and characters with heart. Lewis made a world you can enjoy from many angles.
