You know sometimes your reading choices offer an experience you weren't expecting. So it was with the Guns of Seneca Chambers 1-4. I was enthralled by this Space Age Western from the first page on. The author writes with passion as well as technical expertise. The story shifts time and context frequently but with none of the confusion that I have felt when trying to read others attempting these "Flashbacks" and Preludes in the middle of a story.The characters feel as if they are hurting, confused, wanting to hurt, or mad and I got lost in the story so much that my wife thought I had left home, I was so quiet. If you want great characterisation, where even the hero's have huge flaws, just like in real life, but who take over your imagination and make it their own, then this is the book for you.

It was not really in an easy to follow chronological order.
also left out a lot of the build up to Gentleman Jim.
Plus left room for a sequel but on reviewing the author's comments not really as thing in the planning at the moment.
Just on a list of things he will get around to.
This is a good balance of the old west and the futuristic space age combined. Enough of the old
west to be recognized as such and futuristic to add a neat twist to an enjoyable story.
Great Book, great story, sucks you in and you cannot put it down.
Simply put.... its a SPACE WESTERN but not much in the way of space ships, ray guns.and green aliens....
As others have written, if you liked the Firefly TV series you will thoroughly enjoy this action thriller.
This is definitely a western variety book, yet it takes place on an imaginary planet with very real living consequences of being a wasteland with hidden minerals. Can you imagine a planet with mountains of rare diamonds hiding beneath it's surface?
The first book in this 4 book "omnibus" was good, but then the rest was a lot of back story that wasn't nearly as interesting. It would have been better if it were all incorporated into one main story, rather than individual "books"
I am not a fan of western literature. I am not a fan of sci-fi either.... But I absolutely loved these books! Although I do wish there was a little more editing in a couple of the books (just small spelling and grammatical errors), they were all very engaging, and I was instantly hooked. The characters were well thought out, and although it is sci-fi, the way they were written had them firmly realistic. I would easily recommend this series to anyone looking for a great, exciting read.
I enjoyed set of short stories. The first story is the main story yet the rest of them kind of build up the history behind how all of the characters in the first story develop. You have some pretty sick villains and some cut/dry lawmen in how they handle certain outlaws. We also have a native population and even some Christian missionaries that try to bring enlightenment to the masses.
